Synopsis: [?] [From The Moving Picture World]? Tom Harding, a young American engineer in Cuba, filled with sympathy for the oppressed, enlists a company of rebels in a good cause. He is in love with Theresa, the daughter of a wealthy planter. The story opens as a troop of Cuban cavalry stop at the Arita plantation, and Captain Lopez attempts to snatch tribute from the lovely life of Theresa. Tom Harding happens along and sends the soldier down for the “count.” The latter is discomforted but withdraws filling the air with threats. The Cubans rise against Spain and Signor Arita and his daughter leave their plantation for refuge in Havana. In the interim the revolution is progressing and spirited battle scenes are frequent. When Senor Arita and his daughter are on the road to Havana, their coach is halted by Captain Lopez and his squad of Cuban cavalry. With his usual impertinence he is about to implant himself in the coach; the girl’s father resents this and stands him off with a repeating rifle. Harding and his men, observing the coach surrounded, ride in and drive the impertinent Spanish sympathizers off, and allow the coach and its passengers to escape. Then they are overpowered by a superior number and Harding is incarcerated in Cabanas. Lopez prevails upon the commander to execute Harding; but the daring and cunning of Theresa outwits him, and when the cruel war is over they come back to Cuba and find peace and happiness.
