This Kodacolor photo from the fall of 1964 features Carl with his brother Mark, standing in the front yard of Grandma Wiltfong’s house in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. The house and the tree still exist, but the open field seen in the distance at the left has been fully developed in single-family homes.
