William Demarest

Born 27 February 1892 in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, as Carl William Demarest.
Died 28 December 1983 in Palm Springs, California, USA, of pneumonia and prostate cancer.

Brother of actor Rube Demarest.

Married Estelle Collette, 5 February 1923; divorced, 15 August 1941.
Married Lucile Theurer, 31 August 1942; until William’s death, 28 December 1983.

William Demarest began his entertainment career in vaudeville. His film work began in the 1920s when he appeared in films produced by Warner Brothers Pictures, Incorporated (1927-1928), Fox Film Corporation (1928), First National Pictures, Incorporated (1928).

Demarest continued acting in motion pictures and television from the 1930s through the 1970s.

Demarest is perhaps best remembered for his role as Uncle Charley on the 1960s television series My Three Sons starring Fred MacMurray.
