Sally Blane
Born 1910 in Salida, Colorado, USA, as Elizabeth Jane Young.
Died 27 August 1997 in Los Angeles, California, USA, of cancer.
Sister of actress Loretta Young, actress Polly Ann Young and John R. Young;
half-sister of actress Georgiana Young.
Married director and actor Norman Foster, 8 October 1935; until Norman’s death, 7 July 1976;
son, Robert Foster; one other child.
Sally Blane worked as a child extra with her sisters and brother to help her single mother financially. Her film debut may have been as a sea nymph in Sirens of the Sea (1917). She signed with Paramount Pictures Corporation circa 1927 after having been ‘discovered’ by director Wesley Ruggles; the studio assigned her the screen name Sally Blane. Over the course of the next few years, Sally appeared in films for Paramount (1927-1928), Fox Film Corporation (1928), Radio-Keith-Orpheum Corporation (1929) and Universal Pictures Corporation (1929).
