James Wong Howe
(same as James Howe, Jimmy Howe, James How)

Born 28 August 1899 in Canton (now known as Guangzhou), China, as Wong Tung Jim.
Died 12 July 1976 in Hollywood, California, USA, of cancer.

Cousin of actress Anna May Wong.

James Wong Howe began motion picture work for Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company, Incorporated, working in various production positions on films by Cecil B. DeMille. Having studied still photography for years, Howe was promoted to cameraman on Mary Miles Minter films.
