The Robey Theatre, opened as a vaudeville house, and began exhibiting motion pictures in 1908. The theatre’s location may have moved about on Main Street as many as three times between 1907 and 1911, before Robey built and opened the Auditorium Theatre.
The original Robey Theatre is not the same venue as the Auditorium Theatre, which was opened in 1911 and later changed to the Robey Theatre in 1926.
