The Electric Theatre opened in 1910, and was the first custon-built motion picture venue in Bolton. The name of the venue changed to Imperial Playhouse at sometime before 1920.

The theatre became Embassy Theatre at sometime in the early 1940s, but was soon closed in 1947.
