This DVD boxset includes three previously-released horror films from Kino International in addition to the Photoplay Productions presentation of The Cat and the Canary (1927), which makes its home video debut separately and as the fourth feature film in this set.

The boxset includes the only DVD edition of Bret Wood’s documentary Kingdom of Shadows (1998), previously released on VHS home video, which includes exerpts from more than 50 cinematic horror classics.

For our comparative reviews of the individual films in this boxset, see our Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on home video, The Penalty on home video, The Cat and the Canary on home video and The Man Who Laughs on home video pages.

At one time a recommended boxset, now all diszcs in the set have been surpassed by higher-quality home video editions.
