This Blu-ray Disc edition has been mastered in high-definition from a combination of 35mm prints and 16mm reduction prints from the Library of Congress, Museum of Modern Art, George Eastman Museum, British Film Institute, UCLA Film and Television Archive, the Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique, the National Archives and Records Administration, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, and Southern Methodist University.
The silent films are accompanied by music scores by Donald Sosin, The Alloy Orchestra, Paul D. Miller, The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra, Makia Matsumura, Rob Gal and Max Roach.
The collection is supplemented with an 80-page booklet that includes notes on the films and essays by collection curators Charles Musser and Jacqueline Najuma Stewart.
