This Blu-ray Disc edition has been mastered from a 4K scan of a color-tinted 35mm nitrate positive and a 35mm safety negative held by the Paramount Pictures archive. The scan could have used image stabilization but is otherwise excellent. Dust and speckling are largely noneexistant but the source materials occasionally show signs of beginning nitrate decomposition.
The film is accompanied by a music score composed and performed on piano and synthesizer by Donald Sosin.
Supplementary material includes an audio commentary by actor and biographer William Wellman Jr., and an insert booklet essay by film critic Gina Telaroli.
This is our recommended home video edition of the film.
