The film was produced in sound and silent versions; this presentation utilizes the sound version overall with a soundtrack synchronization of the final silent version reel to replace the final sound version reel, which has not survived.
The film is accompanied by its original synchronized soundtrack.
The disc includes Paul Fejos’ Lonesome (1928) and The Last Performance (1929) starring Conrad Veidt.
The supplemental material includes a 32-page booklet featuring essays by film critic Philip Lopate and historian Graham Petrie and an excerpt from a 1962 interview with Paul Fejos.
