| Nearly all DVD home video products are protected against unauthorized distribution outside their licensed territories by what is
 known as region encoding.
Region 0 (also known as Region-Free) DVDs and Blu-ray Discs areunrestricted and unencrypted discs that are playable on DVD and/or
Blu-ray Disc players worldwide, provided that NTSC players are used
to play NTSC discs and PAL players are used to play PAL discs. Many
PAL DVD players are enabled to also play NTSC discs, check your
 manufacturer’s operation manual for confirmation.
Region 0 Blu-ray Discs are unencoded as opposed to Regions ABC•discs that are encoded but are open to all players, making both types
of discs functionally alike. Blu-ray Disc players worldwide will play
the high-definition, widescreen AVC encoding and specially-marked
players will display from the AVC encoding format, although region-
encoded discs will not play on all BD players worldwide.
