The Mishaps of
Musty Suffer

Volume 2
(1910-1917)

Contents: The Actor’s Fund Field Day (1910), The Fixer (1915), Out of Order (1916), Showing Some Speed (1916), Strictly Private (1916) and Musty’s Vacation (1917).

This follow-up collection of Musty Suffer short films was released a year after the first volume, The Mishaps of Musty Suffer, which brought the previously obscure comedies of Harry Watson Jr back into public awareness. Unfortunately, there are only four Musty Suffer films included but the disc is supplemented with two early motion pictures featuring Watson and his vaudeville partner, George Bickel: the newsreel The Actor’s Fund Field Day (1910) and the first official film by Bickel and Watson, The Fixer (1915).

This DVD-R collection has been produced from very-good to excellent print materials preserved and held by the Library of Congress. The results are very pleasing, for the high-definition digital video transfers maintain a broad range of greyscale tones and sharp image details.

The films are accompanied by music scores composed and performed by Ben Model.
