Ratings (1-10): video: 5 / audio: 3 / additional content: 5 / overall: 5.

This DVD edition of The Girl with the Hatbox shows a full-frame video transfer of a very-good print that has been transferred at faster-than-natural speed. At least one video master glitch is seen in the final DVD. Crude video-based English subtitles are permanently a part of the picture.

The film is accompanied by a noisy, low-fidelity soundtrack of small ensemble and electronic keyboard music transferred from the optical soundtrack of the source print. Not great.

Not truly recommended but this is the only American home video edition of the film we are aware of. The film certainly deserves better treatment than this.
