Ratings (1-10): video: 8 / audio: 6 / additional content: 7 / overall: 7.

For this DVD edition of Granddad (1913) a very-good to excellent 35mm print — which is only marred with a light amount of dust, a moderate amount of speckling, plus schmutz, emulsion scrapes and scratches — has been utilized for the older full-frame analog video transfer, which still looks OK on today’s high-definition equipment except for the misrendered pattern (common in standard resolution video images) in Mildred’s houndstooth coat as she visits the poorhouse garden and the cemetary.

The film is accompanied by a custom music score performed on synthesizers by Eric Beheim.

To our knowledge, this is the only available home video edition of the film (Flicker Alley has not reissued this title in their series of manufactured-on-demand DVD-R discs from Film Preservation Associates masters).
