This DVD edition has been transferred from an excellent 35mm restoration print financed by cinephile Jesse Pierce, who also produced this home video edition in 2001. The slightly windowboxed video transfer will appear as full-frame on most television monitors.
The film is accompanied by a music score composed and arranged for strings by Mari Lijima.
The spare supplemental section includes a stills gallery, a biography by director Maurice Tourneur, and a New York Times review of the film.
This is our recommended home video edition of the film.
