This budget DVD edition has been mastered from a 16mm reduction print in the film holdings of the National Film Museum, Incorporated (whomever that is). Apparently, the video transfer was digitally restored by Hypercube LLC in New York, New York, and, apparently, it doesn’t make much difference. The transfer can’t hide its analog videotape origin, with occasional smears that run to right of picture highlights. The image is at times quite dark in its shadow details, but is for the most part watchable as is. The latter fourth of the film is compromised by missing footage that interrupts the flow of the story.
The film is accompanied by a music score composed and performed on piano by Douglas M. Protsik.
Not a horrible edition, but we look forward to the release of a better home video edition than this one.
