This DVD-R edition has likely been mastered from a 16mm or 8mm reduction print (as might be surmised from the publisher-provided still frame above).

The film is likely accompanied by a soundtrack compiled from preexisting music recordings.

Why would you pay $45.00 for a manufactured-on-demand DVD-R disc that looks like the above still frame provided in a plain slimline CD jewelcase? This company appears to be all about taking as much money as possible and giving back as little as possible. We do not recommend this edition, but it is the only edition of the film currently available.

2009 DVD edition

The Untameable (1923), black & white, 68 minutes, not rated.

Gladys Walton Digital Productions,
no catalog number, unknown UPC number.
One single-sided, single-layered, Region 0 NTSC DVD-R disc; 1.33:1 aspect ratio picture in full-frame 4:3 (720 x 480 pixels) interlaced scan image encoded in SDR MPEG-2 format at ? Mbps average video bit rate (capable of progressive scan upscaling to ? fps); Dolby Digital (AC3) 2.0 stereo sound encoded at ? Kbps audio bit rate; English language intertitles, no subtitles; chapter stops; standard DVD keepcase; $15.95.
Release date: 8 December 2009.
Country of origin: USA
This poorly produced DVD-R edition has been mastered from a VHS videotape copy of a fair to good 8mm reduction print that is quite scuffed, with dust, speckling, and other defects including persistent frame instability. The older analog video transfer has a hard time holding image details in the highlight areas of the picture but the shadow areas remain open and reasonably well defined.

The film is accompanied by a music score compiled from preexisting music sources that are often abruptly edited together.

Not a great presentation but this is the only home video edition of the film we know of. This edition, produced by Gladys’ son John Walton, is now out-of-print and may be hard to find.
